Introduction
Fishing progression starts at Faith in Battleon Town Square. Throughout the questline you will earn fishing levels to equip better fishing rods and meet more fishing NPCs in other maps.
Fishing nodes can be seen after equipping a fishing rod. Clicking a node shows its power and how many fish are left in the pool. Nodes disappear when empty or left untouched after some time. A body of water can have more than one node at a time.
Caught fish appear in the Resources section of your inventory. They take up no space and can be used for quests and crafting or sold for gold.
Note: The previous Fishing progression is still available at Fischer, however the old fish have no use and were replaced by the new ones.
Fishing Instructions
When starting the fishing minigame for the first time, a tutorial will appear to show it works. To catch a fish, you must click or tap the big button when the fish indicator is in the capture zone. The color of the fish indicator and capture zone indicate the rarity of the fish. Rarer fish move faster, more erratically, and have smaller capture zones.
When you successfully capture a fish, it is added to the Resources section of your inventory and you receive fishing XP based on its power and rarity. Caught fish take up no space and can be used for quests and crafting or sold for gold.
Finishing the main quests for a fishing NPC will give you a new Fishing Rod as a final reward. See the list below for the fishing rod quest progression:

Fishing Nodes
Nodes are designated fishing spots that have different fish depending on their location and power. Nodes can only be fished with rods that have equal or higher power.
Nodes can also spawn with higher rarities, which increases the chances of catching rarer fish. Node rarity is indicated by color, following the same pattern as as items: White/Common, Green/Uncommon, Blue/Rare, Purple/Epic, and Gold/Legendary. When a node is Red, it means you do not have a fishing rod equipped with enough power to fish there.
Regarding nodes sharing the same power and fishing spot, the contents inside the pool can be identified after catching a fish from the pool.
Special Fishing Rewards
Increasing fishing level and progressing through the main questline unlocks side quests with special cosmetic rewards:
